Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers say they were notified late on Wednesday, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then found multiple other smeared cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police say initial examinations suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its source; authorities are presently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the incident," they added.
City officials stated they were trying "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the community for information.
A high-ranking representative commented the vandalism made him speechless and required to be solved quickly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a assailant aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
